Privacy Policy for Highlights for Kindle

Highlights for Kindle is a Chrome extension that shows a quote from your own Kindle highlights every time you open a new tab. This page explains what data the extension collects, how it's stored, and who it is shared with.

What we collect

The extension only reads your data when you explicitly click "Sync now" while you are on your Kindle Notebook page (read.amazon.com/notebook). It never runs in the background, on a timer, or on any other page. When you sync, it reads the highlights currently visible on that page and saves:

• The highlighted quote text
• The book title
• The author, when available

The extension never accesses, reads, or stores your Amazon account credentials. It relies entirely on your existing logged-in browser session, the same way any page you visit while logged in would.

How your data is stored

All synced highlights are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in local storage (chrome.storage.local). This means your data:

• Never leaves your device
• Is not sent to any server — we don't operate one
• Does not sync across your other devices or browsers
• Is not tied to any account — the extension doesn't create or require an account of its own

Who we share your data with

No one. Nothing you sync ever leaves your browser, so there is nothing for us to share, sell, or transmit to any third party.

Analytics and telemetry

This extension collects no usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry of any kind. We have no way of knowing how many people use it, what they highlight, or how they use it.

Permissions this extension uses

• Storage — to save your synced highlights locally on your device.
• Access to read.amazon.com — to read the highlights currently visible on your Kindle Notebook page when you click "Sync now," and to open that page for you when you click "Connect Kindle." No other website is accessed.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this same URL, and the in-extension consent notice will reflect the current version.
